    Blinds aint worth a damn on public. But they have one great use. Does snort at them. Note the direction. Bucks follow does. Return in a week after blind is gone. Great place to hunt. Like a Gobbler telling u his location. Especially good for scouting when leaves are a foot deep in October.

    This hunt was irritating ! That hunter TOOK forever to shoot ! I felt like he was waiting for that buck to come sit on his lap ? I have hunted since I was a young kid, 64 yrs old now, and I have hunted with several people over the years and NO ONE HAS EVER TAKEN THAT LONG TO SHOOT !

    • @WhitetailDiaries
      @WhitetailDiaries Місяць тому

      Thanks for your comment but with all due respect this was his first deer ever and he was really wanting to make sure he made a perfect shot and the deer was in a place where it all his vitals were lined up. Just because you choose to shoot fast doesn't mean it's the best to do so. We think he did it perfect and congratulate him on a perfect shot and his first deer.

      @@WhitetailDiaries The angle must have been different then it looked ? Because it looked right in front of him, and he could have thrown a rock and hit that buck ? Also I don't have the luxury of hunting a well stocked private property ! Must be nice ?

    • @WhitetailDiaries
      @WhitetailDiaries Місяць тому

      @@dannyf100 Open range danny, Open range that is well managed but it appears that you're just going to pick this persons first deer apart and frankly that's sad. And yes the camera is a good three feet to the side and angle on all hunts are different from what the hunter sees and regardless it's his shot to take when he's ready.

      There is a thumb safety on these rifles that's always engaged just like in a safety on a lever action. The gun maybe chamberd and cocked but with safety on it won't fire

    That young dude is not practicing safe gun handling his gun is cocked. That means it can shoot

    • @JuarezDerrick
      @JuarezDerrick 10 днів тому

      A lever gun is way too loud to try to cock when the deer is already in front of you, I agree he should have dropped the hammer but if it shoots oh well, it's just going to go out into the field!

    • @WhitetailDiaries
      @WhitetailDiaries 10 днів тому

    Ok cheapo stop the crap anx open up a hiw to mount deer by Jerry Schaefer of vandykes taxidermy. Stop wasting your life telling yourself you can't ever mount a deer till you hit the lottery in your state cuz you haven't enough money to afford to get everywhere mounted cuz pres biden jeeps raising to costs! Gros up boy and fo it yourself! It's the easiest thing to do in the taxidermy line up. And fish being the hardest! Just call up vandykes taxidermy and get a video by the greatest taxidermist who ever graced our presence by Jerry Schaefer of Madison lake in Minnesota! This man lives in a literal taxidermy museum of #1 quality mounts and did them all himself execp the muskie I mounted for him when I attended his fush doecualist college credit courses! He is a rugged old hinter who loves to help out teach all mounts plus instructs full bodied mounts too! I personally think he is the coolest man since frank Sinatra! He's even got these big blue peacock running around his meat outside hims castle he built! Truely an American classic! And I love him. Google vandyjes taxidermy and ask for his educational series on how to mount 🦌 and buy it. You will be a pro only after completing your first deer! Don't wait go for it! Then you can lay all your fears to rest about how much will it cost you buddy! And turn it into a really great sideline hobby mounting all your buddies deer heads!❤😂🎉🎉thanks to Schaefer studios for the educational course.. life is shirt, eat better cheese!😅

      It was hit back and we didn't track for a little bit but it didn't go 200 yards. Was piled up dead on the trail it took which I still find weird based on where the bullet went in. It must have done more damage at impact than we thought. I was worried we were going to have a long track but that deer looked like it died running based on what we found when we recovered it. Not my best shot for sure

    My favorite cartridge was the 6.5x55mm. It wasn't a 30-06 but it was an amazing cartridge. 6.5 Creedmoor should be about the same. Keep ranges inside 300 yards.

    Too expensive..... You need up to 350 fps to kill everything efficiently and humanly. There are many crossbows up to 400 fps, extremely accurate around 350- 600 bucks....

    I've shot the 143gr ELDX pretty extensively on whitetail and have been less than impressed. You can tout BC all day long but unless you're after retained energy at extended ranges, of what use is it at "normal" range. So, my MV out of a 24" Rem 5R is only 2560fps. Speed kills and I would call it lackingly disappointing. I only remember having 1 bang/flop on a whitetail out of at least 2 dozen well shot deer. Most of the time, they'll run at least 40yds, sometimeswith very little blood trail. Just not very impressive at normal distances but I feel it has a niche for 300 yds plus. My go to is 257wby. I guess everything seems lacking after using the hand of god,lol! 3300fps with very little recoil. 115 gr bullets. Must reload to afford it and you dont plink with it. Flattens deer
